Excerpt: There is less number of films that meets the mind’s eyes and when even a single one is confronted, it brightens up a viewer’s day. Bart Got a Room is one such film and though shown pretty early in the Tribeca festival, it caught more than some mere attention; the film easily became the personal favorite of many so far. The last thing that can be expected in this movie is complexity, though the subject brings forth quite a few chances to induce that into the storyline. It’s surprising how a geeky teenager needs a date for the prom night flick could pack fun and heart-matters to this extent and yet come out with flying colors. One word describes it all – there’s LIFE in the movie! Pros: * Well-written characters * Memorable scenes The Storyline Danny – played by Steven Kaplan – is a skinny kid of Jewish origins and suffers from inferiority complex, eccentricity and over-protective parents. All these add up to one thing: there’s no date for him for the prom night i.e. despite his chances with Camille (Alia Shawkat), his best friend, Danny wants someone who would get him romantically inclined. His preferences are: i. A pretty and flirtatious blonde cheerleader who shares with him the same pool car. ii. A reserved Asian classmate whose poetries are both exotic and erotic.
